Musings and Mobiles

Well here it begins, the first blog of a journey that began many years ago. It is 2 days before I depart to begin an 800km walk across Spain to Santiago De Compostela, alone. But of course I am not alone but preceded by countless pilgrims before me as well as those who will come after.
More than that I am with The One who promised never to leave me or forsake me, no matter what should befall me in this life and it is to His call to 'Get up, my dear friend, fair and beautiful lover-come to me', that I go.

'Come, dear lover- lets tramp through the countryside. Let's sleep at some wayside inn, then rise early and listen to bird-song. Let's look for wild flowers in bloom, blackberry bushes blossoming white, Fruit trees festooned with cascading flowers. And there I'll give myself to you, my love to your love'! (Song of Songs-The Message)

As a world we have just watched a Royal Wedding with all its pomp and ceremony, preparation, expectancy and joy. I was not on their guest list and nor were most of you reading this, but we are all invited to a Royal wedding, a wedding that is more real and whats more eternal, between each of us and our Creator. No credentials needed of fame or fortune or designer outfits, just a humble heart that knows its own need of a true and faithful Lover and is willing to respond to the invitation. How many of us stop what we are doing- things that are so occupying and distracting and respond to the call? The call to come away and enjoy God. Scary stuff because I might just have to meet myself first on the way.

My sons soon popped my spiritual bubble by declaring that I was going on 'honeymoon with Jesus' and from this ensued endless mirth and laughter, the icing on the cake of which was my mobile phone falling out of my back pocket into the toilet post peeing! Since I had spent nail biting hours deciding if to take it or not, it seemed the decision had been made by circumstance, particularly since my first reaction was to grab it out of the toilet and rinse it off-DUH!

I will post again just before I go. With much love to you all.
Kate
